ACE Statement
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors history or if there are reasons they would not work as well.
What to Send:
- ACE inhibitors that have been tried and failed.
- Would not be as effective.
- Would cause adverse effects (e.g. contraindicated).
Common ACE Inhibitors
- Benazepril (Lotensin)
- Captopril
- Enalapril (Vasotec)
- Fosinopril
- Lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril)
- Moexipril
- Perindopril
- Quinapril (Accupril)
- Ramipril (Altace)
- Trandolapril
ARB Statement
What angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) have been tried or would they not be appropriate?
What to Send:
- ARBs that have been tried and failed.
- If other ARBs would not be as effective (e.g. would not lower patient's BP enough).
- If other ARBs would cause adverse effects.
Common ARBs
- Candesartan (Atacand)
- Eprosartan (Teveten)
- Irbesartan (Avapro)
- Losartan (Cozaar)
- Olmesartan (Benicar)
- Telmisartan (Micardis)
- Valsartan (Diovan)
Hospitalization Risk
Has the patient recently been hospitalized or are they at significant risk of being hospitalized due to hypertension or associated conditions?
What to Send:
- Hospitalized recently due to hypertension or associated conditions.
- At high risk of hospitalization due to hypertension or associated conditions.
- History of hospitalization due to hypertension or associated conditions.
Other Drugs
Have other drug been taken for the patient's condition?
What to Send:
- Any other type of drug tried such as beta blockers (e.g. metoprolol), calcium channel blockers (e.g. amlodipine), or diuretics (e.g. hydrochlorothiazide).
